'One-Liner'
A rich, honeyed white Port with orange peel, maple warmth and a beautifully mellow, nutty finish.

Tasting Note
Amber-gold in the glass. The nose is full of dried orange peel, herbs, spice, maple syrup and almonds, with a little marmalade and caramel in the mix too. On the palate it feels velvety and generous, but there’s still enough citrusy freshness to keep it lifted rather than sticky. Complex, mellow and properly after-dinner-worthy.

The Story
Alves de Sousa is a long-established Douro family producer, with the current winery story centred on Domingos Alves de Sousa and Quinta da Gaivosa, one of the family’s key estates in the heart of the Douro Valley. Caldas is their richer, sweeter white Port style – a wine that leans into maturity, wood ageing and complexity rather than simple youthful fruit. The result is a white Port with real depth: nutty, spiced and honeyed, but still held together by enough freshness to stop it feeling cumbersome.

Perfect With... (click me for the recipe)
- Dessert: Walnut tart

- Cheese: A salty hard cheese or aged ewe’s cheese

- Serve: Chilled on its own after dinner, when you want something richer and more contemplative than a dry white Port.
