Tasting Note
Pale straw yellow in the glass, with inviting aromas of white blossom, ripe pear and fresh orchard fruits. The palate is soft and generous, bringing together delicate floral flavours, juicy white fruit and a gentle sweetness that gives the wine its beautifully rounded character. Careful ageing adds a subtle richness and complexity without overwhelming its fresh, aromatic charm. Smooth and harmonious on the finish, with a lingering fruity warmth that makes it particularly enjoyable served chilled.

The Story
Founded in 1985, Carlos Alonso Douro Wine Company is an independent, family-owned producer based in Alijó, in the heart of Portugal's historic Douro Valley. The family's Piano range celebrates the harmony between tradition and innovation, producing wines that reflect the character of the region while remaining wonderfully approachable. 'Piano Fine White' offers a different expression of Port, made from indigenous white grape varieties grown in the Cima Corgo, where west-facing vineyards sit at around 600 metres above sea level on soils that transition from schist to granite. Harvested in early September, the grapes undergo traditional Port vinification, with fermentation carefully controlled to preserve the wine's natural fruit character. The final blend is selected the following spring and matured partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel, a combination that allows the wine to develop richness and complexity while retaining its delicate floral aromas and fresh fruit flavours. The result is a beautifully versatile White Port, equally at home served chilled as an aperitif or mixed with tonic, ice and a slice of citrus for a wonderfully refreshing Portuguese take on a classic long drink.
