A gloriously rich Loire Chenin Blanc, layered with honeyed orchard fruit, candied citrus and exotic fruit – intensely sweet, yet held beautifully in balance by bright, mouth-watering freshness.

Tasting Note
Deep golden in colour, with generous aromas of honey, ripe pear, quince and apricot joined by fig, candied citrus and tropical fruit. The palate is sumptuous and concentrated, unfolding with pineapple, baked orchard fruit and acacia blossom, while Chenin Blanc’s naturally lively acidity cuts cleanly through the sweetness. Rich without becoming heavy, it finishes long and vibrant, with lingering honey, citrus peel and gently floral notes.

The Story
Founded in 1890 and managed by the Lamotte family since 1985, Domaine des Trottières lies at Thouarcé in the heart of Anjou’s Layon Valley. Clos du Moulin des Quarts comes from the schist-rich slopes of Bonnezeaux, one of the Loire’s celebrated appellations for sweet Chenin Blanc. The grapes are harvested after developing noble rot, which concentrates their sugars, acidity and aromatic intensity, before the wine is matured in barrel for six months. The result is opulent and honeyed, but never ponderous – a beautifully balanced expression of Chenin Blanc in which remarkable sweetness is carried by the grape’s enduring freshness.
