Seductive village Gevrey from a tiny single parcel – ripe cherry, dark berries and flowers wrapped in fine tannins and beautifully judged oak.

Tasting Note
Bright ruby in the glass, with an expressive nose of ripe cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry lifted by violet and subtle sweet spice. The palate is supple and finely structured, with juicy red and dark fruit carried by fresh acidity and polished tannins. Gentle notes of liquorice, earth and lightly toasted oak develop as the wine opens, adding depth without overwhelming the fruit. There is the generosity you expect from Gevrey-Chambertin, but also plenty of finesse and energy. Long and poised on the finish, with cherry, spice and a savoury mineral note lingering behind.

The Story
'En Songe' is a remarkably small expression of Gevrey-Chambertin, coming from just 27 ares of Pinot Noir planted in 1984 on a mid-slope site beneath the En Champs climat. The soils are medium-depth clay and limestone, and the domaine works the parcel with mechanical cultivation, organic fertilisers and extensive manual vineyard work before harvesting entirely by hand. In the cellar, the fruit is sorted again, fermented with natural yeasts and handled gently, before the wine spends 18 months in barrel, with 20% new oak. Average production is only around 1,500 bottles, giving this village-level Gevrey a genuine single-parcel identity and a level of detail that goes well beyond a simple regional blend.
