Tasting Note
Very pale straw yellow with a fine, persistent stream of bubbles and an immediately fresh, fruity nose. Ripe golden apple, pear and peach lead the way, joined by citrus and delicate elderflower and acacia notes. The palate is softly rounded and fruit-forward, with gentle sweetness balanced by enough acidity to keep everything lively and refreshing. Fine bubbles add lift and prevent the ripe orchard fruit from feeling heavy. Clean, floral and easy-going on the finish, this makes a convincing celebratory alternative when alcohol is off the menu.

The Story
La Gioiosa approaches alcohol-free fizz rather differently from producers who first make a wine and then remove its alcohol. Whole Glera grapes are gently pressed, the freshly obtained must is clarified and held in temperature-controlled tanks without undergoing alcoholic fermentation, before carbon dioxide is carefully introduced to create its fine sparkle. The result keeps the naturally fruity personality associated with Glera – apple, peach, citrus and flowers – without needing a dealcoholisation stage. La Gioiosa itself is based in Treviso, at the heart of north-eastern Italy’s sparkling-wine country, and this 0.0% bottling takes that familiar bright, easy-drinking style and gives it a genuinely alcohol-free twist.
