Tasting Note
Pale straw in the glass. The nose is bright and focused, showing green apple, lemon and a subtle floral lift. On the palate it’s crisp and refreshing, with lively acidity balanced by a gentle roundness through the mid-palate. There’s a touch of stone fruit and a clean, mineral finish that keeps everything precise and food-friendly. Elegant, understated and quietly impressive.

The Story
McGregor Winery was established in 1948 and works with vineyards around the village of McGregor, at the foot of the Riviersonderend Mountains. The wider vineyard area stretches from mountain slopes into three river valleys at around 200 to 350 metres above sea level, while this Chenin Blanc comes specifically from the Koningriver area on red calcareous soils rich in limestone. In the cellar, the fruit is handpicked before midday, whole-bunch pressed and fermented cool enough to preserve fruit while still building plenty of aromatic character, which suits the wine’s bright, juicy style very well.
