Tasting Note
Pale salmon pink in the glass. The nose is fresh and fruit-led, with strawberry, raspberry, watermelon and a delicate floral lift. On the palate it is light, dry and very refreshing, with lively acidity, soft red fruit and a clean, crisp finish. Vinhão gives the wine its bright berry character, while the Vinho Verde style keeps everything zippy and easy-going. Serve well chilled for maximum sunshine-in-a-glass behaviour.

The Story
Vinho Verde is often thought of as white, citrusy and gently spritzy, but the region also produces wonderfully refreshing rosé. In this case, the colour and red-fruit character come from Vinhão, a traditional Portuguese red grape that brings bright berry fruit and naturally lively acidity.
Portal da Calçada sits in Amarante, in the heart of the Vinho Verde region, with a family history stretching back to 1917. The estate has long focused on fresh, accessible wines that show the lighter, more joyful side of northern Portugal – wines made for chilling, pouring and not overthinking too much.
