Tasting Note
Amber-tawny in the glass. The nose leans into dried fruit, nuts and caramel, with the fruit sitting a little further back than in a younger Tawny. On the palate it is smooth and layered, with concentrated acidity balancing the richness, so it feels mellow and complex without turning heavy. Long, polished and properly after-dinner-worthy.

The Story
Quinta de la Rosa is one of the historic Douro quintas with a strong estate identity, and its Tawny Ports are shaped by long cask ageing rather than youthful fruit alone. The house explains that Tawny Ports are aged in smaller 550-litre oak pipes, which encourages the oxidative ageing that brings out dried-fruit, nut and caramel notes over time. A 20 Year Old sits in that sweet spot where the fruit is still there, but the maturity and complexity really start to take over.
