A rich, polished LBV Port with dark berries, cocoa, spice and a long, velvety finish.
Tasting Note
Deep ruby in the glass. The nose is intense and layered, showing ripe plum, raspberry, cherry liqueur and violet, with notes of cacao, coffee and spice underneath. On the palate it is dense and full-bodied, with ripe yet smooth tannins, plenty of fruit-driven richness and enough freshness to keep it lively rather than heavy. Long, structured and very satisfying after dinner.

The Story
Quinta de la Rosa’s LBV is made in a more traditional, estate-led style, using fruit from the Douro and ageing the wine for around four years in large old tonel casks before bottling. Trade notes for the 2019 also mention foot treading in granite lagares, light filtration and bottling without the need for decanting, which places it somewhere between the structure of Vintage Port and the immediate drinkability of a more approachable house style. In other words, it gives you plenty of depth and character, but without demanding years of cellaring.

- Cheese: Stilton, aged Cheddar or a firm blue cheese – the wine’s rich fruit and cocoa-spice notes work beautifully with salty, savoury cheese.
- Dessert: Dark chocolate tart
- After dinner: On its own in a proper glass – this is one of those bottles that really can just be the pudding.
