'One-Liner'
A fresh and savoury South African Sangiovese, bringing together sour cherry, earthy spice and fine, gently grippy tannins.
Tasting Note
Bright red cherry and cranberry are joined by hints of roasted tomato, dried oregano, leather and warm spice. Medium-bodied and dry, the palate has Sangiovese’s characteristic freshness at its heart, with juicy red fruit, earthy complexity and fine, grainy tannins leading into a savoury, gently spiced finish.

The Story
Raka is a family-owned estate set in a narrow valley beside the Klein River, where varied slopes and cooling breezes from nearby Walker Bay help the grapes retain freshness as they ripen. The Dreyer family bought the farm in 1982 and planted its first vineyards in 1999, naming the winery after owner Piet Dreyer’s much-loved fishing vessel. Their Sangiovese offers a distinctive Cape interpretation of the great Italian variety – lighter on its feet than many local reds, with vivid cherry fruit, savoury herbs and the lively acidity that makes Sangiovese such a natural partner for food.
