'One-Liner'
A warm, generous Vintage Port with ripe dark fruit, Christmas-cake spice and a soft, approachable richness.
Tasting Note
Deep ruby in the glass. The nose is full and open, with mouth-filling ripe fruit and a warm, spicy note that leans towards Christmas cake. On the palate it is concentrated and generous, with dark berry fruit, a soft forward shape and enough freshness to stop it feeling heavy. Rich and expressive, but more approachable than some firmer vintage declarations.

The Story
Wiese & Krohn described 2005 as a year of dry winter and spring conditions, a hot summer and low, uneven yields, with September rain helping the grapes finish ripening while cool nights preserved balancing acidity. The house presents the resulting wine as concentrated, intensely fruity and made for earlier drinking than some sterner Vintage Ports. That gives this bottle a slightly different feel from the more severe, long-haul examples – still serious, still rich, but with a softer and more welcoming shape.
